Goal #34: Create a photo or video essay – COMPLETED

I have been recording video clips everyday since March 2013 with the intention of compiling  a video diary of the year between my 41st and 42nd birthday. That would be my video essay for this goal #34. However, as I capture these moments, I want to experiment with them in different ways. Hence this “Travelogue” […]

Goal #21 Learn CPR – COMPLETED

When I learned that the success rate of CPR is only around 3%, I had my doubts about following through with this goal. However, a 3% chance is still better than nothing. I was going to spend two-three hundred dollars to do training course at UFM, a community learning center. But then my library offered […]

Artistic Creation – One Second Everyday Video

A few years ago, when I was in the screenwriting MFA program at Hollins, I wrote a lot. I was really bad at the beginning, but just like most things, practice helped. By the time I graduated, my thesis screenplay actually did well in screenwriting competitions and film festivals. Instead of moving to Hollywood to […]

Jumping out of a plane and other progress updates

Goal #24 Jump out of a plane (preferably with a parachute) – COMPLETED!! All I can say about that 1 second when you jump out of plane for the first time is, it’s freaking surreal! I wasn’t scared at all. I wasn’t even nervous. I was surprisingly calm for someone who’s about to leap off a […]

Goal #10 Try vegetarianism for a month – Check

So 28 days came and went just like that,  and I was a vegetarian for a month. It was actually much easier than I expected. I think it’s mainly because there’s an end date. I knew I could go back to eating meat again on March 1st (which I did. I had a meatball sub […]

2013 Progress Update #2

Goal #10 Try vegetarianism for a month (happening right now) This is happening right now! Feburary, 2013 is THE month. Of course I would pick the shortest month in a non-leap year to try this, despite many friends telling me to pick a summer month to get better and more variety of vegetables. I grew […]

Splits progress 2013-1-20

Goal # 37 – Be able to do splits. At the new year yoga retreat, when I was practicing yoga 3 hours a day, I could really sense some progress. But I admit I have been slacking off a bit lately, at least in terms of stretching. It is difficult when you have to work full […]

This 45 Before 45 Project is a list of 45 things I want to accomplish by the time I turn 45 years old (2017). I came up with this list at age 40 (2012), so I have about 5 years to complete them. It is not exactly a bucket list. For someone who waits until the last minute to do things, a bucket list wouldn't really work for me. It could however be looked at as a "bucket list with a deadline" (get it? get it?). It is a list of intentions. It is a road map for me to experience the kind of life I want to live. It is my quest to become the person I've always wanted to be.

Setting goals is a good way to achieve things you want in life. Even though I don't know if I will be able to complete all 45 things, I know that simply by writing them down, it will give me motivation to get up each morning. Other similar blogs have inspired me to attempt this, and I hope mine could do the same for you.
